Accelerated Bachelor鈥檚 to Master鈥檚 Degrees

The School of Science and Engineering Accelerated Bachelor鈥檚 to Master鈥檚 programs allow 天美传媒制片厂 students to achieve both a bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree in five years. 

SLU's accelerated programs include a wide range of subjects and specializations, allowing students access to programs that are tailored to their needs and ambitions.

Application Instructions

Before starting the application, you should discuss your intention to apply to an accelerated bachelor鈥檚 to master鈥檚 program with the appropriate graduate program coordinator. They can assist you with program-specific requirements and expectations.

For admission to a nonthesis masters program, complete the first page of the application and attach a goal statement (single-spaced, maximum two pages) to this application. After signing, submit to SSEgrad@slu.edu. The Graduate Affairs office will route your application to the appropriate program for approval.

Important Policies
  1. To apply for provisional acceptance to the ABM program, complete the SSE Accelerated Bachelor鈥檚 to Master鈥檚 application. Do not apply through Graduate Admissions.
  2. Upon provisional acceptance to the ABM program, you will receive an email with a letter of provisional admission, and your Banner records will be coded to reflect your educational goal of pursuing the accelerated program. You will remain classified an undergraduate for the purposes of financial aid and scholarships until your bachelor鈥檚 degree is awarded.
  3. Once accepted, you are not required to complete the 鈥淧etition by an Undergraduate to Enroll in Graduate Coursework鈥 to enroll in graduate courses. Instead, send an email to SSEgrad@slu.edu with the following information:

    Your Banner ID
    Semester of requested enrollment
    Course number and name of the graduate course(s) you want to enroll in
    CRNs of the courses
  4. Per the University鈥檚 policy, up to 15 hours of graduate-level coursework may count toward both your bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees. Check with your undergraduate advisor and/or faculty mentor to ensure you are meeting the requirements of your bachelor鈥檚 degree program.
  5. Per the University policy, undergraduate students participating in the ABM program may only enroll in 15 credit hours (or five courses, whichever is greater) of bachelor鈥檚 and graduate-level courses.
  6. All graduate coursework will be credited toward your undergraduate program until your bachelor鈥檚 degree is conferred. You are expected to maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA to maintain eligibility to advance to the master鈥檚 level. Some programs may have additional expectations of performance in the graduate-level courses to advance to the master鈥檚 level (e.g., B or better in all courses). Consult with your graduate program coordinator upon admission to learn the expectations of your degree program.
  7. Per the University鈥檚 policy, no more than 6 credit hours of 4000-level coursework may apply to the master鈥檚 degree. Consult your graduate program coordinator about any program-level restrictions. Coursework taken at the 4000 level cannot count toward both your bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees.
  8. Any incomplete or missing grades must be addressed and grades entered before you can advance to the master鈥檚 program.
  9. After you apply for graduation in the final semester of your baccalaureate program, you must submit a petition for classified admission to the master鈥檚 program. On the petition, you will list the graduate course(s) to be credited to both your undergraduate and graduate program (maximum of 15 credits).
