Academic Success Program

SLU-Madrid's Academic Success Program (ASP) provides individualized support to students who have been placed on academic probation.

It is critical that students who are struggling academically take proactive steps toward their own success. Students enrolled in this program have an opportunity to access academic success resources under the guidance and mentoring of our dedicated staff, and in an environment that promotes personal well-being and relationship-building. With the help of academic advisors, University counselors, and faculty mentors, students learn to develop a clear plan for academic achievement, identify areas for improvement, and acquire and enhance key skills for success such as time management, study techniques, or self-regulation, among others.

The Academic Success Program is required for any SLU-Madrid degree-seeking student who has been placed on academic probation. The program includes the following components, designed to connect students with the Madrid campus' academic support system:

  • An initial meeting with your academic advisor — to be completed before the end of the add/drop period.
  • An initial consultation with a — this will help identify areas for improvement and support strategies.
  • A minimum of two Academic Support workshops — Choose from Study and Organizational Skills, Test Anxiety, Effective Classroom Communication, Executive Functioning, or Stress Management for a Successful Semester.
  • Two follow-up meetings with your academic advisor — One after midterms and one during the preregistration period for the next semester.
  • A meeting with your faculty mentor — Your faculty mentor can advise you about your major program of study. Find your faculty mentor.
