Remembering Dr. Jonathan Smith (1959-2021)

Dr. Jonathan Smith, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÖÆƬ³§'s vice president for diversity and community engagement, had a profound impact on the lives of many at SLU, throughout the local community and beyond.

Dr. Jonathan C. Smith Amphitheater Dedication

The amphitheater near SLU’s iconic clock tower was dedicated in memory of Jonathan Smith, Ph.D., Oct. 25. The dedication ceremony included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the amphitheater honoring Smith and his legacy. New seating areas have been added to the area, along with outdoor power outlets, creating additional spaces for students to study, talk and collaborate.

Dr. Smith’s loved ones, Blessed Hope Missionary Baptist Church and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÖÆƬ³§ celebrated his life on Wednesday, June 30 at Chaifetz Arena.
